Dwarfing Effect of Plant Growth Retarders on Melaleuca alternifolia

Rapid growth and scattered plant types are urgent issues for potted Melaleuca alternifolia. An effective strategy dwarfing cultivation is the exogenous application of regulators (PGRs) to plants. However, many non-wood forest species, there currently limited understanding regulatory mechanism effects PGRs, which greatly limits PGRs. In this study, three paclobutrazol (PP333), uniconazole (S3307), chlormequat chloride (CCC) were applied dwarf terpinen-4-ol M. By observing morphological characteristics leaf anatomy alternifolia after measuring its photosynthetic physiological biochemical indexes, effect PGRs underlying mechanisms investigated provide a reference by dwarfing. The results show that PP333 (P3) treatment at 2000 mg·L−1 had best on alternifolia, with compact shape, thicker stems, green color. At same time, it increased chlorophyll contents, changed blade structure, content soluble substances activity antioxidant enzymes, endogenous hormones indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), gibberellin A3 (GA3), trans-zeatin-riboside (ZR), decreased abscisic (ABA) levels.
